Slifka’s path in the energy sector began early, accompanying his father to work during weekends at their family’s home heating oil retail business. This early immersion provided him with practical insights across the business, from terminal operations to bulk logistics, vessel management, and truck loading procedures. These formative experiences were instrumental in shaping his future contributions to the family enterprise.
Working closely with his father, Fred Slifka, Eric absorbed comprehensive knowledge of the energy industry, encompassing terminals, wholesale operations, supply chains, trading, risk management, and retail strategies, and importantly, how to integrate these elements strategically. His early career included travels to Venezuela and other South American countries, where he gained firsthand exposure to the family’s diverse energy interests.
In 1998, Eric’s expertise and unwavering commitment led to his appointment as Chief Operating Officer of Global Companies, based in Waltham. In this role, he spearheaded critical strategic transformations within the company. By 2003, his promotion to President and Chief Executive Officer marked the beginning of a dynamic phase of growth and innovation. His leadership was pivotal in guiding Global Partners to become a publicly traded master limited partnership in 2005. Since this transition, the company has experienced over a tenfold increase in scale, a milestone Eric particularly values alongside the distribution of over a billion dollars to unit holders.
Beyond his corporate achievements at Global Partners Waltham, Eric is deeply engaged in philanthropic endeavors and industry leadership. He is a member of the National Petroleum Council, serves on the board of the Energy Policy Research Foundation, Inc., and is part of the Massachusetts General Hospital President’s Council. Through the Global for Good Fund, Eric perpetuates his family’s tradition of philanthropy, demonstrating a strong dedication to community welfare and social responsibility.

He has cultivated a corporate culture where every team member is integral to the company’s accomplishments. His career trajectory reflects a deep-seated commitment to family values, stability, and the principles of trust and effective execution, all of which have propelled Global Partners to its current prominent position in the energy sector.
