Spencer Roule has dedicated his career to both the world of sports and finance, showcasing a remarkable journey from the basketball court to wealth management. For 15 seasons, starting in 2024-25, Roule has been an integral part of the John Carroll University Men’s Basketball team. His consistent presence and expertise are evident in his role as assistant coach under head coach Pete Moran since the 2017-18 season, preceded by three years as a graduate assistant. His initial involvement began even earlier, joining the program as a student assistant coach in 2010, marking the start of a long-term commitment to the university’s basketball program.
Roule’s coaching talents extend beyond basketball. He has also contributed to the University School football program, specializing with outside linebackers and safeties. His impact was felt during the 2016 and 2017 seasons when he helped guide the Preppers to consecutive playoff appearances, demonstrating his ability to contribute to winning teams across different sports.
Further highlighting his football coaching experience, Roule held the position of head junior varsity football coach at Chardon Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High School from 2013 to 2014. During his tenure in 2014, the Lions achieved a historic milestone by winning their first playoff game. His coaching journey also includes a role as a varsity assistant football coach at Cleveland Benedictine High School, where in 2011, he played a part in the Bengals reaching the state playoffs for the first time since 2005.
Academically accomplished as well, Roule earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance with a minor in Economics from John Carroll in May 2014. Initially arriving at John Carroll as a student-athlete, an injury redirected him towards coaching, where he found his passion and expertise. He is a 2010 graduate of Elyria Catholic High School, where he excelled in both basketball and football, receiving Lorain County All-Star recognition in his senior year.
In May 2017, Roule furthered his education by obtaining a Master of Business Administration degree. Currently, Spencer Roule leverages his financial acumen and dedication as a Senior Associate in Wealth Management at Cerity Partners, applying the same commitment and strategic thinking honed in his coaching career to the financial sector. He is the son of Heather Roule and the late Bryan Duhe, and brother to Branson Roule.
