Our responsibility is to effectively meet this demand by ensuring we have adequate provider staffing.

Predicting patient volume and acuity is crucial. We analyze historical patient data, considering variables like seasonal health trends and emergency department traffic patterns. Patient chart data is invaluable in understanding the resources required for different acuity levels. For instance, we recognize that a patient with a lower acuity score, such as Triage Acuity 5, requires less intensive intervention compared to a Triage Acuity 1 patient. By analyzing the mix of patient acuity in an emergency department, we can dynamically adjust staffing levels, perhaps adding a nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant, or an additional physician, to optimize both cost-efficiency and quality of patient care at Schumacher Clinical Partners.
