Naturescaping offers a transformative approach to landscaping, harmonizing your outdoor space with the local ecosystem. This method prioritizes native plants, conserves precious water resources, enhances wildlife habitats, and safeguards water quality. The result is a beautiful, functional landscape that is easier to care for, saving you both time and money in the long run.
EWEB collaborates with dedicated local partners to present naturescaping workshops, designed to equip you with the knowledge and tools for successful implementation. These workshops delve into essential topics such as crafting a practical, water-efficient landscape plan, selecting the “right plant” for the “right place,” effectively managing invasive species, understanding the crucial role of riparian buffers in maintaining water quality, minimizing the use of pesticides and fertilizers, and improving soil health through composting techniques.
For those eager to embark on their naturescaping journey, a wealth of downloadable resources is readily available. Furthermore, landowners collaborating with the PWP Program gain access to exclusive naturescaping incentives, designed to support their efforts in creating environmentally friendly landscapes.
Through the PWP Program, landowners can choose from two valuable Naturescaping incentive pathways:
- Technical Assistance Consultation: This option provides landowners with a personalized site visit and up to four hours of expert consultation from a PWP staff member, focusing on core naturescaping principles. Participants are also granted a $250 credit to be used at participating native plant nurseries that partner with PWP.
OR
- Naturescaping Design: Similar to the Technical Assistance Consultation, this pathway includes a site visit and four hours of consultation with PWP staff. However, landowners choosing this option can allocate the $250 incentive towards engaging the McKenzie Watershed Council to develop a tailored naturescaping design for their property. Landowners directly contract with the McKenzie Watershed Council for this specialized ‘fee-for-service’ design.
Landowners participating in the PWP program benefit from wholesale prices or discounts at native nurseries that are Pwp Partners, making native plants more accessible and affordable.
Free naturescaping classes, typically offered annually, provide a comprehensive introduction to fundamental naturescaping concepts and practical guidance on applying these principles to your own landscape. These classes are an excellent starting point for anyone interested in learning more about sustainable landscaping and how PWP partners can support your goals.
