Shocking footage has emerged detailing a domestic dispute in Tennessee that escalated to violence, leaving a 24-year-old man wounded and the 68-year-old gunman dead after a standoff with police. The incident, which unfolded in Blount County, Tennessee, involved Jeffrey Scott West, who shot Kyle W. Spitze, his partner’s son, during a heated argument. The newly released video captures the harrowing moments leading up to the shooting, Spitze’s escape, and the subsequent police intervention.
The video, filmed from Spitze’s perspective, begins with a disturbing threat from West: “I’m getting ready to blow his godd*mn brains out! Right f**kin’ now!” Spitze, recording the confrontation, retorts, “Shoot me and I guarantee you’ll go to jail for life.” The footage reveals Spitze’s mother, Melanie, attempting to de-escalate the situation, positioning herself between the two men. West, visibly enraged, brandishes a firearm, repeatedly aiming it at Spitze as the younger man continues to film.

Melanie briefly closes the door in an attempt to quell the escalating tension. However, West’s anger persists, yelling, “I’m tired of his sh*t!” through the closed door. Spitze then reopens the door, confronting West again, “You gonna blow my mom’s brain out?” The argument spills into the hallway of the Quarry Hollow Road residence, with Spitze’s mother, aged 60, desperately trying to separate the two men. Despite her efforts, West continues to point the gun at Spitze multiple times.
The footage is new, and shows what happened at the Tennessee home prior to a more than two hour police standoff
In a moment of apparent misjudgment, Spitze challenges West, “Point that gun at me again,” seemingly believing West would not actually fire. This presumption proved tragically wrong. A gunshot rings out, accompanied by the flash of gunfire captured in the video. Spitze recoils, momentarily silent as he processes what has just occurred. His mother gasps, noticing droplets of blood falling to the floor. “Oh my god! You’re going to jail,” she exclaims as West walks away, and Spitze begins to realize he has been shot.
The man who was wounded, Spitze, survived and escaped, while the gunman, West, barricaded himself inside the home before encountering SWAT teams and Crisis Negotiations
Panic sets in, and Spitze is seen rushing towards the back door of the house, seeking escape and safety. He glances at his reflection in the glass door, presumably assessing his injury. The video ends as Spitze flees the residence.
Negotiations ensued, but West – seen in the footage indiscriminately waving the firearm – refused to surrender. Cops eventually sent in a K-9, and found the senior dead from a self-inflicted gunshot
According to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, Spitze and his mother met outside after the shooting and called 911 around 8:15 pm. Deputies arrived to find them waiting and provided immediate first aid to Spitze, who reported the shooting and West’s continued presence inside the home. Crisis negotiators and SWAT teams were deployed, attempting to persuade West to surrender. These efforts proved unsuccessful after approximately two and a half hours. Just before 11 pm, a K-9 unit was sent into the residence. The K-9 indicated that West was deceased, and upon entering, officers discovered West dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The new footage is filmed from Spitze
Authorities confirmed that West died by suicide and that Spitze sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his right ear. Spitze’s condition remains undisclosed, but the video footage of this violent encounter continues to circulate, highlighting the dangers of domestic disputes and the rapid escalation of anger into violence. No police officers were injured during the incident. DailyMail.com has reached out to both Spitze and the Blount County Sheriff’s Office for further comments.
