The Inaugural iPROOF Project: A Launchpad for Bioproduct Innovation

The first initiative under this new alliance will be based at Primient’s facility in Decatur, IL. The initial phase will concentrate on revitalizing and upgrading existing fermentation assets at the site. This includes expanding current operational capacity and significantly enhancing the downstream processing unit to meet the evolving demands of bioproduct innovation.

Upon completion, the joint Primient-Synonym facility will offer a complete suite of integrated services for companies utilizing precision fermentation techniques. This comprehensive support system is designed to facilitate the seamless launch of innovative product concepts, guiding them from the laboratory bench to commercial success.

This pioneering project, named iPROOF (Pilot Research Operations Optimization Facility), is partially financed through a U.S. Department of Commerce and Economic Development Administration Phase 2 Tech Hub Grant Award. This grant was initially applied for as part of the broader iFAB Tech Hub Grant submission, underscoring the project’s significance in advancing biomanufacturing capabilities within the region and the nation.
