Royalty Payment Schedule at Merit Energy Partners
Merit Energy Partners issues royalty payments via two primary methods: paper checks and direct deposit. Both methods follow a consistent monthly schedule to help you anticipate when to expect your funds.
Paper Check Payments
Paper royalty checks are mailed on the 20th of each month. Please allow postal delivery time for the check to reach you.
Direct Deposit Payments
For royalty owners who prefer electronic transfers, direct deposit is available. Funds are transferred on the 20th of each month. Please note that while the transfer occurs on the 20th, it may take up to five business days for the funds to appear in your account, depending on your bank’s processing times, as stated in the EnergyLink enrollment terms.
Minimum Balance for Payment Issuance
To streamline payment processing, Merit Energy Partners has established minimum balance thresholds for issuing payments.
- Standard Check Issuance: Revenue checks are typically issued when your owner account balance reaches at least $100.
- Annual Low Balance Payout: Annually, in June, for owners with balances of $10 or more who have not received payments during the year, checks or ACH transfers are issued. This ensures even smaller balances are paid out regularly.

Addressing Common Royalty Payment Inquiries

- Check Not Received: If you have not received your check by the fifth business day of the month following the mailing date, please contact the Royalty Relations Hotline at 972-628-1590.
- Lost or Stale Checks:
- Lost Check: If a check is lost, complete and return the declaration of loss form. Upon receipt, Merit Energy Partners will void the lost check and include the funds in your next payment.
- Old Check: For checks older than 120 days (stale checks), mail the original check to Merit Energy Company, Attn: Royalty Relations, 13727 Noel Road, Suite 1200, Tower 2, Dallas, TX 75240, with a request for reissue. The funds will be included in your upcoming royalty payment.
- Payment Amount Questions: For inquiries about your check amount, deductions, production codes, or changes in production, please contact the Royalty Relations Hotline.
- IRS 1099 Statements: IRS 1099 statements are issued annually by January 31st.
