Michael Levitt: Leading Irradiant Partners with Decades of Financial Expertise

Michael Levitt stands as the Chairman of Irradiant Partners, bringing a wealth of experience and leadership to the firm. His prominent role extends to serving on both the Management Committee and Investment Committees, underscoring his pivotal influence within Irradiant Partners.

Before establishing Irradiant Partners, Levitt held the position of chief executive officer at Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors, L.P., from 2016 to 2021. This tenure as CEO followed his service as vice chairman at Apollo Global Management, LLC, where he was a key partner in both private equity and credit divisions. His career trajectory showcases a consistent rise in responsibility and strategic oversight, demonstrating a deep understanding of financial markets and investment strategies.

A significant milestone in Levitt’s career was founding Stone Tower Capital LLC in 2001. As chairman, CEO, and CIO of Stone Tower, he successfully grew the company into a substantial entity managing $17 billion in credit-focused alternative investments. This entrepreneurial success culminated in Apollo’s acquisition of Stone Tower in 2012, further cementing Levitt’s reputation as a capable and visionary leader in the investment world. Earlier in his career, Levitt was a partner at Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst Incorporated, a private equity firm, where his investment focus was on media and consumer sectors. His foundational experience also includes serving as co-head of investment banking at Smith Barney Inc., and beginning his investment banking career at Morgan Stanley & Co., Inc., where he managed corporate finance and advisory services for private equity firms and non-investment grade companies.

Beyond his corporate achievements with Irradiant Partners and other leading financial institutions, Mr. Levitt is actively involved in academia and philanthropy. He is a member of the University of Michigan’s Endowment Investment Advisory Committee and the Ross School of Business Advisory Board. He also serves as a Trustee of the Michigan Law School’s Cook Trust. His philanthropic endeavors include working with organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundations of America and New York, and the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund. Mr. Levitt’s academic foundation is rooted in his B.B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Michigan, providing him with a robust understanding of both business administration and law, which enriches his leadership at Irradiant Partners.
