Eric Slifka’s journey with Global Partners showcases the power of family values, strategic partnerships, and visionary leadership in achieving remarkable success in the global energy sector. From humble beginnings working alongside his father to his current role as President and Chief Executive Officer, Slifka’s story is one of dedication, innovation, and a commitment to building lasting relationships.

Slifka’s early immersion in the family’s retail home heating oil business provided invaluable hands-on experience. He gained a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of the industry, including terminal operations, bulk transportation, and logistics. This foundation, coupled with the mentorship of his father, Fred Slifka, equipped him with the knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of the energy market. He learned the intricacies of terminals, wholesale operations, supply chain management, trading, risk mitigation, and retail, along with the crucial skill of strategically integrating these diverse elements. His education extended beyond the borders of the US, with formative experiences in South America, including Venezuela, where he was deeply involved in the family’s expanding energy ventures.

In 1998, Slifka assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer at Global Companies, spearheading significant strategic transformations. By 2003, he was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer, ushering in an era of unprecedented growth and innovation. A pivotal moment in Global Partners’ history was its transition to a publicly traded master limited partnership in 2005 under Slifka’s leadership. This strategic move fueled exponential growth, with the company expanding more than tenfold and distributing over a billion dollars to unit holders, a source of immense pride for Slifka.

Slifka’s influence extends beyond Global Partners. He actively contributes to industry organizations and philanthropic endeavors. He holds esteemed positions on the National Petroleum Council, the board of the Energy Policy Research Foundation, Inc., and the Massachusetts General Hospital President’s Council. Continuing the family’s legacy of giving back, Slifka champions community engagement and social responsibility through the Global for Good Fund.

Slifka resides in the Boston area with his wife and has three children – a daughter and two sons. His sons are actively involved in the family business, continuing the legacy of leadership and commitment to the energy sector. Outside of his professional endeavors, Slifka enjoys leisure activities such as boating and golfing, cherishing time spent with family and friends. His personal life reflects the same values of connection and commitment that define his professional achievements.
