G&A Partners: A History of Growth and Client Partnership

G&A Partners was established by Antonio “Tony” Grijalva and John W. Allen – the names behind the “G” and “A” in . Their journey began in the 1980s when they first met as colleagues at Grant Thornton, a prominent accounting firm located in Houston. This initial professional connection laid the groundwork for their future collaboration and entrepreneurial venture.

In 1991, Tony Grijalva embarked on his entrepreneurial path by launching his own Certified Public Accountant (CPA) practice. John Allen joined him a year later, marking the official formation of their partnership. Together, they established Grijalva & Allen, P.C., and diligently built a strong and respected portfolio of clients seeking accounting and CPA services. During this period, Tony and John observed a recurring theme among their clientele: the challenges of managing business growth. Clients frequently sought G&A’s expertise for assistance beyond traditional accounting, particularly in areas like payroll management, employee benefits administration, and various human resources and administrative tasks.

Recognizing a significant opportunity to expand their service offerings and address the evolving needs of their clients, Tony and John made a strategic move in 1995. They acquired a staffing company, which led to the creation of G&A StaffSourcing. However, their vision evolved further. After several years, they made a pivotal decision to divest from the temporary staffing business. This bold move allowed them to sharpen their focus on the burgeoning demand for HR and PEO (Professional Employer Organization) services.

This calculated risk proved to be highly successful. In the year 2000, the company underwent a rebranding initiative, emerging as G&A Outsourcing. This transformation marked a period of rapid expansion in size, service capabilities, and geographical reach, effectively meeting the escalating demands of a dynamic market. Throughout this growth trajectory, Tony and John remained steadfastly committed to their founding principle: empowering companies to concentrate their valuable resources – time, talent, and energy – on core business growth and enhancing employee well-being. This core philosophy became deeply ingrained in G&A’s mission, culminating in the adoption of the tagline “Time to Grow” in 2004. The company name further evolved to G&A Partners, directly reflecting their distinctive partnership-centric approach to client service – a hallmark of g & a partners that has remained constant throughout their more than 25 years in business.
