Cobalt Service Partners, a platform created to acquire and operate leading commercial access solutions businesses and backed by Alpine Investors, has announced the addition of four new companies to its growing portfolio. Automated Door Ways (ADW), Toepfer Security, Industrial Door Company (IDC), and Homeland Safety Systems (HSS) have joined Cobalt, significantly expanding the platform’s reach and service capabilities.
These strategic acquisitions mark a period of rapid growth for Cobalt Service Partners since its inception in December 2023. By welcoming ADW, Toepfer, IDC, and HSS, Cobalt has broadened its geographical presence to include the West Coast and Midwest regions of the United States. Furthermore, the platform has enhanced its core service offerings to encompass a wider range of commercial access and security solutions, including advanced access control systems, comprehensive video surveillance, and specialized overhead door services.
Here’s a closer look at the newly acquired businesses that are now part of the Cobalt Service Partners network:
- Automated Door Ways (ADW): Founded in 2005 and based in Columbus, Georgia, ADW has established itself as a trusted provider of automatic and manual door solutions across the Southeast. Under the continued leadership of founder Ed Gaffney, ADW brings strong expertise in door installation and support to Cobalt Service Partners.
- Toepfer Security: With a history dating back to 1862, Toepfer Security, located in Waukesha, Wisconsin, boasts a long-standing tradition of security excellence. Owned most recently by Ron Lund Jr., whose family acquired the business in 1982, Toepfer specializes in security system installation and support, serving clients nationwide with a particular focus on the Milwaukee area. Their addition strengthens Cobalt Service Partners’ security service capabilities significantly.
- Industrial Door Company (IDC): Sacramento, California-based IDC, founded in 1985 by Sy Fields and his son Jerry Fields, is a leader in commercial and industrial door services. With Jerry Fields at the helm as CEO, IDC is renowned for its expertise in overhead doors and dock equipment, providing installation and support services across a wide range of commercial door types. IDC expands Cobalt Service Partners’ specialized door service offerings and West Coast presence.
- Homeland Safety Systems (HSS): Established in 2003 in Shreveport, Louisiana, HSS specializes in security system solutions for a diverse clientele across the Southeast. Founded by Tony Marquis, HSS has developed particular expertise in serving school districts and correctional facilities, adding a specialized security focus to Cobalt Service Partners.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome ADW, Toepfer, IDC, and HSS as our newest partners at Cobalt Service Partners,” stated Tyler Hoffman, Co-CEO of Cobalt. “We are honored that Ed, Ron, Jerry, and Tony have chosen Cobalt as the long-term home for their exceptional businesses. Anthony Gonzalez, Co-CEO of Cobalt, emphasized the partnership-focused approach: “Our primary goal at Cobalt Service Partners is to empower our businesses by tackling the key challenges they face in scaling and growth. We are particularly focused on supporting them in attracting, retaining, and developing top-tier technician talent. We’ve already begun working closely with our new partners and are enthusiastic about the opportunities ahead.”
