Michael Marks, Chief Operating Officer at Allied Partners in New York, brings extensive experience in real estate and asset management to the firm. With over 20 years in leadership roles, Marks oversees a diverse portfolio including corporate real estate, new developments, asset management, alternative investments, finance, and legal operations. His expertise strengthens Allied Partners’ position in the competitive New York real estate market.
Marks joined Allied Partners in 2024 after serving as Executive Director of Real Estate and Planning at The City University of New York (CUNY). Managing a vast 29-million-square-foot portfolio across 26 colleges, he oversaw acquisitions, public-private partnerships, operations, and financing for a student body exceeding 250,000. His experience at CUNY provided invaluable insights into managing large-scale real estate operations.
Prior to CUNY, Marks held the position of Global Head of Real Estate and Facilities at The Open Society Foundations. He directed operations in 35 countries, spearheading significant projects such as a new corporate headquarters in Berlin and a $60 million renovation of the New York headquarters. He also led market expansions into various countries, including Brazil, Myanmar, Colombia, Singapore, and the United States. His global experience honed his skills in strategic leadership, facilities management, and project execution.
Earlier in his career, Michael Marks served as Asset Manager at Colliers International. He managed mixed-use real estate assets in New York and Connecticut for clients including Stamford Hospital, Mill Management, and Aegean Capital. This foundational experience provided him with a deep understanding of asset management principles and practices.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Marks co-founded The EliLou Foundation with his wife, Yira. The foundation focuses on providing scholarships and promoting educational access in the Dominican Republic. He also serves on the board of Brooklyn Labs, a charter school in Brooklyn, and is a Trustee of AyudameRD, a Dominican charity providing free medical care.
