Over two decades, Mr. Collins has expertly managed over $1.5 billion in real estate and corporate transactions, encompassing more than eight million square feet of commercial and residential real estate development, acquisitions, and dispositions. His deep understanding of the market and strategic approach are key drivers for Forge Capital Partners’ continued growth and success in the competitive investment landscape.
Prior to his impactful role at Forge Capital Partners, Peter Collins honed his expertise as a Managing Director at Rock Creek Capital in Jacksonville, Florida, for five years. During his tenure, Rock Creek Capital was recognized as a leading corporate private equity firm in the Southeast, supporting numerous successful ventures across the nation. His experience at Rock Creek Capital further solidified his foundation in private equity, preparing him for his leadership role at Forge Capital Partners. His responsibilities extended to significant land acquisitions, developments, and timber investment businesses, showcasing his versatile skillset within the financial sector.
Earlier in his career, Peter served as a Manager with the Florida State Board of Administration in Tallahassee, Florida, demonstrating his capacity to handle substantial economic responsibilities. In this role, Mr. Collins was directly involved in critical financial matters concerning the State of Florida Retirement Trust Fund, the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund, the Florida Division of Bond Finance, and The Department of Treasury. This experience provided him with a comprehensive understanding of large-scale financial management and public sector economics, skills he brings to his leadership at Forge Capital Partners.
Before his state-level roles, Peter Collins dedicated four years as Chief of Staff for Florida State Senator Charles Williams. This position immersed him in the significant economic and social issues affecting the State of Florida, further broadening his perspective and policy acumen. His involvement in legislative and policy matters at the state level enriches his strategic approach at Forge Capital Partners, providing a unique insight into the broader economic environment.
Peter Collins is actively engaged in professional organizations, holding memberships in the Urban Land Institute and the International Council of Shopping Centers. His commitment extends to community and educational leadership as a Trustee of the Florida State University (“FSU”) Foundation Board and Chairman of the FSU Endowment. Appointed to the $200 billion State of Florida Pension Investment Advisory Council by Governor Rick Scott in 2010 and later serving as its Chair, Peter’s expertise is recognized at the highest levels of state governance. He also serves on the Executive Committee of the FSU College of Business Board of Governors and was appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis to the Board of the Florida Council of 100 in 2019. An Eagle Scout, Peter Collins continues his dedication to youth development as the Southern Region, Area 4 (State of Florida) President and a member of the Southern Region Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America (“BSA”). His past service includes the BSA National Foundation Board of Directors and chairmanship of the BSA National Foundation’s Investment Committee. Recognized for his contributions, Peter has received the BSA’s Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope, and National Outstanding Eagle Scout awards. Mr. Collins’s academic foundation was built at Florida State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance and an MBA. Peter resides in Tampa, Florida, with his wife, Jennifer, and their four children. His personal interests include golf, hunting, and private aviation.
