Partners Store Westport MA: New Ownership for Beloved Local Business

Partners Village Store, a beloved fixture in Westport, MA, has transitioned to new ownership after 36 years under the leadership of founders Nancy Crosby and Jan Hall. Westport resident Lydia Sweetser Gollner, a familiar face at Partners since 2014, has taken the reins, bringing with her over two decades of experience in the fashion industry. This article explores the history of Partners Village Store and the exciting future under Gollner’s leadership.

From Humble Beginnings to Westport Staple: The Story of Partners

Partners Village Store’s roots trace back to 1979 as a small retail space within Crosby & Baker, a wholesale wine and beer-making supply business on Main Road. Founded by Nancy Crosby and Pat Baker, the retail side of the business, then known as The Village Store, flourished under Crosby and Selena Howard’s ownership. Eventually separating from the wholesale operation, The Village Store continued to thrive.

Jan Hall, a long-time employee since 1980, joined Crosby as co-owner in 1992 following Howard’s retirement, marking the official name change to Partners Village Store. Responding to consistent growth, the partners purchased and renovated an old farmhouse further down Main Road in 2003. This expansion included a new kitchen, inviting porches and patio, charming gardens, and ample parking. The move to the current location at 865 Main Road in Central Village was completed in 2007.

A Seamless Transition: Lydia Gollner Takes the Helm

While Crosby embarks on retirement, Hall will remain involved during the transition period. Both express confidence in Gollner’s ability to uphold the store’s cherished traditions while infusing it with fresh perspectives. Gollner’s background managing renowned brands like Kenneth Cole, DKNY, and Sigrid Olsen, combined with her deep ties to Westport, make her uniquely suited to lead Partners into its next chapter.

Gollner, whose family has summered in Westport for generations, relocated permanently in 2012 with her husband. She joined the Partners team in 2014, ensuring a smooth handover of ownership. Her commitment to exceptional service, quality products, and creating a unique customer experience aligns perfectly with the values that have defined Partners for decades.

Looking Ahead: Preserving the Legacy and Embracing the Future

Gollner is enthusiastic about building upon the strong foundation laid by Crosby and Hall. She aims to maintain the warm and welcoming atmosphere that customers have come to love while exploring new opportunities for growth. Her vision includes upholding the store’s commitment to excellent service, delectable food, and a carefully curated product selection. Partners Village Store, under its new leadership, is poised to continue its legacy as a cherished community hub in Westport, MA.

Gollner’s passion for the store and its community is evident. “I am thrilled and honored to continue the legacy of Partners into the future,” she stated. With a focus on preserving the store’s unique charm and a dedication to providing exceptional experiences, the future of Partners Village Store in Westport, MA, looks bright.
