United Codeshare Partners: Emirates and United Enhance Travel Options Across US and Beyond

Dubai, UAE – March 30, 2023: Emirates and United Airlines have officially launched their codeshare partnership, creating enhanced travel opportunities for customers seeking broader access to destinations across the U.S. and Emirates’ extensive global network. Starting today, Emirates passengers gain smoother connections to over 150 U.S. cities through United’s vast domestic network, accessed via major hubs in Chicago, Houston, and San Francisco.

This partnership simplifies travel for Emirates customers flying to the U.S., offering connections to a significantly expanded range of destinations beyond Emirates’ existing 12 U.S. points. Travelers can now seamlessly reach cities deep within the United States, leveraging the convenience of booking a single ticket and enjoying Emirates’ generous baggage allowance throughout their journey, with baggage checked through to their final destination.

For U.S.-based travelers, the agreement opens up easier routes to Dubai and Emirates’ network of unique destinations spanning the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. United customers can now connect to Emirates flights in Chicago, Houston, or San Francisco, unlocking a world of travel possibilities beyond Dubai.

Passengers on codeshare flights will experience Emirates’ renowned service and a suite of travel benefits designed for seamless journeys. The single-ticket booking simplifies itineraries, and the integrated baggage policy ensures hassle-free transfers. Furthermore, members of Emirates Skywards and United MileagePlus® frequent flyer programs can now earn and redeem miles on flights operated by both airlines within the partnership. This reciprocal benefit extends rewards and recognition to loyal customers of both airlines.

Destinations previously less accessible are now conveniently within reach. For example, Emirates passengers can now easily plan trips to cities like Atlanta, Austin, Denver, Minneapolis, and Phoenix, connecting through the U.S. gateway hubs. Similarly, for destinations such as Detroit, travelers can fly direct from Dubai to Chicago or Houston and seamlessly connect to a United flight. This ease of connection works in reverse for passengers starting their journey in the U.S., providing streamlined access to Dubai and beyond via Emirates.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the significance of this launch: “We are extremely delighted to activate this historic partnership with United and significantly expand our footprint in the U.S. United’s vast network across the Americas will help us to offer more choice to our customer base from across the globe, and meet demand from across segments including the leisure, VFR, corporate travellers and students who can now connect seamlessly to and from a broader network of more than 150 domestic points.”

Beyond the U.S., the interline arrangement between Emirates and United extends travel options into Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean islands, and Central and South America. Emirates customers can now access dozens of additional destinations in these regions, enjoying the same single-ticket convenience and smooth connections through Chicago, Houston, and San Francisco.

Emirates currently operates services from Dubai to 12 U.S. cities, alongside five destinations in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina. This partnership significantly broadens Emirates’ reach within the Americas and provides United customers with enhanced access to Emirates’ global network.

The enhanced loyalty program benefits further sweeten the deal for frequent flyers. Emirates Skywards members can accrue miles on all flights within United Airlines’ global network. Conversely, United MileagePlus members can earn miles on select Emirates flights, specifically when traveling from Newark (EWR) to Dubai (DXB) on United and connecting to onward Emirates destinations. These reciprocal earning opportunities add substantial value for members of both loyalty programs.

Emirates’ network in the Americas is extensive, encompassing major gateways such as Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD), and many more. The airline also serves key cities in Mexico, Canada, and South America, solidifying its position as a major international carrier connecting the Americas with the world.

Through these United Codeshare Partners, Emirates and United are delivering on their promise to provide customers with more opportunities, greater convenience, and enhanced rewards, creating a more connected and accessible world for travelers.
