Health Partners Plans (HPP), a leading healthcare provider in Philadelphia, and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), a nationally recognized pediatric hospital, have announced a significant partnership. Effective July 1, 2020, this agreement ensures that all Pennsylvania-based CHOP facilities and physicians are in-network for HPP’s Pennsylvania member families, significantly broadening access to top-tier pediatric care for Health Partners members.
“This partnership with CHOP marks a significant step forward for Health Partners Plans members,” stated Denise Napier, President and CEO of Health Partners Plans. “We are thrilled that our members now have in-network access to CHOP’s exceptional pediatric services. At Health Partners Plans, we are dedicated to continually enhancing the health and well-being of our community, and this collaboration with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia directly reflects that commitment.”
This provider agreement means that members enrolled in Health Partners Medicaid, KidzPartners (Children’s Health Insurance Plan), and HPP’s Medicare plans who reside in Pennsylvania can now access CHOP’s extensive network of services. This includes primary care, specialized treatments, urgent care, and community hospital locations across Pennsylvania. This collaboration simplifies healthcare access, ensuring families can readily seek care at CHOP locations throughout Pennsylvania.
Madeline Bell, President and CEO of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, also commented on the alliance: “Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is deeply committed to providing safe, high-quality care to all children. As the need for Medicaid and CHIP coverage becomes increasingly vital for many families, it is crucial to maintain strong federal and state support for these programs. This partnership between Health Partners and CHOP reinforces our shared dedication to creating healthier futures for even more children within our community.”
Health Partners Plans has been a trusted health care partner in the Philadelphia region for over 33 years. Recognized for its innovative approach to managed care, HPP actively addresses social determinants of health through community-based programs like its Wellness Center in West Philadelphia and various Social Determinants of Health initiatives. Conversely, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, established in 1855, holds the distinction of being the first hospital in the United States solely dedicated to pediatric care. CHOP is renowned for its pioneering advancements in pediatric medicine and consistently ranks among the top children’s hospitals nationwide, as recognized by U.S. News & World Report for the past 15 years.
